Stash Series – Primer and Foundations

Hello, Hallo, Olá,

I thought I’d start a new series here on the blog where i show you guys my stash. I always enjoy collection videos and related content, so I thought I’d make my own. I kind of low key already started this series with my MAC eyeshadow collection, but I wanted to make it official – with this being it´s first post, so to speak.

To start thing off, I’m beginning with the basics: foundations and primer. I don’t currently own many products in these categories (there have been different times many many moons ago). I have consciously tried to stay away from buying primers and foundations and for the most part I have done really well. This year i bought one product in this categories – the Maybelline Fit me Matte and Poreless Foundation. All other products were already in my stash. Let’s dive in!

Primers

Benefit That Gal

This came in a Set i bought for Christmas maybe 3 to 4 years ago and I have just now came around to try it out. I really like it! It is more of a luminous primer that will give a little extra glow without being too obvious. It has no shimmer or glitter particles in it, which I really like because I dread obvious glitter spread on my face. It slightly blurs pores and fine lines, but doesn’t make them completely disappear – in that matter, the Porefessional really is better. I also don’t notice it prolongs the wear of my make up but that is not an issue I tend to struggle hugely with. For me, this is just a nice dewy primer, great for under powder or more matte foundations. I would consider picking this up in full size eventually.

Becca First Light Priming Filter

This is a sample i got like 3 months ago when i ordered my Chocolate Gold . I actually used it up already so it is not in my Stash anymore (see my November empties for a short review on this product).

Foundations / BB & CC Creams

Maybelline Fit me Matte and Poreless Foundation

I have the shade 105, which i must say is quite a good match for me. I have used this a couple of times but not consistently day after day. I like the light coverage it provides (for me it´s all i need) and i appreciate the fact that it can Be slightly built up to a bit more coverage. The finish isn’t really matte – it is a more of a Demi matte finish. For me personally i like it better that way. I feel it holds up pretty well though the day and it doesn’t oxidize or change color (looking at you UD Naked Skin!!). I like it better applied with a sponge, but it also applies nicely with fingers; i just feel it doesn’t blend as well.

All in all, it reminds me a lot of a more matte version of MACs Face & Body – which i love, but i find on me tends to be too shiny. For me it does what it has to do, it is affordable and the color matches me well – I am not about to go on a long quest for the perfect foundation. This might not be „it“ yet, but i am happy to use it.

L’Óreal Nude Magique CC Cream Anti Redness

This is a repurchase and a product I enjoy but I don’t think I will buy it a 3rd time, since i found something i like better. This is a light weight CC Cream which has a greenish tone to it due to its anti redness properties. The color itself lies within small capsules and it releases and adjusts to your skin as you rub it in.

Although the finish lays more on the matte side, the CC Cream still is very skin light and meshes well with my skin. I feel though before using the CC my skin needs to be well moisturized so that it doesn’t cling to any dry patches i might have on a given day. To that, i only recommend applying this product with a brush. My favorite one for that is the Zoeva # . Whenever i try to apply it with my hands,  feel it doesn’t blend so well into the skin.

ArtDeco Mineral Powder Foundation

This is my only powder foundation. I like this product a lot and this is my second pan of it. And I say pan because ArtDeco has this cool packaging where you bout the compact once and after that you can just buy the refill pan. When you first buy it in the compact, it comes with a little pad that I have never used, and yet never threw away.

I find this foundation works well on its own or as a face powder over other products. I have used over several foundations through the years and it never looked cackey or too powdery (given i use a lighter hand while using it on top of other products). Solo, it performs just fine – it slightly evens your skintone, offers a little bit of coverage – just what i need for everyday. Also, if i at some point use too much of it, a little spritz of any kind of spray will do to take the powderyness away. After I finish this one (can you see the dip going on?) I am tented to try MAC Mineralized Skin Finish and see how it compares.

Miild Mineral Powder

I recently won a giveaway promoted by Signe (Use Less) and Miild as they started being sold in Germany, and this powder was one of the prizes. I was so happy to have won, since this brand has been on my radar for a few months now (like i commented in my post about fave Europeans brands / brands I would like to try). I picked the shade Light Plus Windy, which is one of the lightest shades with more of a golden undertone.

I have been using this powder on its own as a foundation or as a setting powder on top of foundation and either way I have been enjoying it. It has the slightest coverage and it is very finely mild, which i like. For days when I can’t be bothered with a perfect complexion or just don’t have time for a full routine, this is what i reach for. I would say it is lighter in color and coverage as the ArtDeco one, so it is a good match for the Winter months where I inevitably will be fairer.

That´s it for primers and foundations. Next I´ll be doing powders and concealers – which will be short and sweet, since I don’t have too many of those.

Which foundation and primer are your all time favorites?

XO, LG, Bjs,

Patricia
